Oscar's Smokehouse Smoked Gouda & Duck Breast Dip
Ingredients:
2 small duck breasts
2 blocks of smoked gouda cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tsp onion powder
2 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
2 tbsp mixed dried vegetables
1/2 cup cream cheese (optional for creaminess)
1/4 cup sour cream (optional for creaminess)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking the duck breasts)
2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Season the duck breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Cook the duck breasts for 5-6 minutes per side until they are cooked through and slightly crispy on the outside. Let them rest for a few minutes, then shred the meat into small pieces.
Prepare the Vegetables:
In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion with a pinch of salt and pepper until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the mixed dried vegetables and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
Prepare the Dip Base:
In a large mixing bowl, grate the smoked gouda cheese (or chop into small pieces if you prefer).
Add the cream cheese and sour cream, mixing until smooth. If you prefer a lighter dip, feel free to adjust the sour cream and cream cheese amounts based on your desired creaminess.
Combine Everything:
Add the shredded duck breast, sautéed onion and vegetable mixture, chopped cilantro, chopped chives, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper to the cheese mixture. Stir to combine evenly.
Final Touches:
Transfer the dip to an oven-safe dish and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until it’s golden and bubbly on top.
Serve:
Serve hot with tortilla chips, crusty bread, or vegetable sticks for dipping. Enjoy!
